Monica Blagescu leads the education team at the British Council Kenya, building understanding and trust between people in the UK and Kenya through mutually beneficial partnerships which connect educational institutions, professionals, learners, policy makers and others. Enabling change so that young people access quality education and graduates have relevant competencies and skills for employability and entrepreneurship are at the core of the British Council work. An international development and humanitarian professional, Monica has over 20 years of experience in leadership and advisory roles for bilateral donors, UN agencies, NGOs and think tanks, with a focus on voice and accountability and locally-led, evidence-based solutions to address local and global challenges. Previous roles include Director of Programmes at the UK Disasters Emergency Committee and Director of the Ethiopia-Canada Cooperation Office.
