Continental Integration for Prosperity
What is Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity about in the African context?
It is said that human coexistence is a cultural achievement. Enabling fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people must remain our aspired achievement collectively as humanity. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) have been enhanced to include institution-wide initiatives that encompass policies and culture that addresses both individual and organizational shortcomings. Many organizations and companies have started initiatives to cultivate more just organizational cultures. They review their practices for biases, etc. At the same time, there is a growing sense of continental integration, a revival of the Pan-Africa spirit of sorts.
How do we achieve this by ensuring that no region, community, age group, or gender feels forgotten from institutional to continental levels? Are there Africa-specific DEI issues and which are these? How is Africa aligned with emerging global DEI issues?
